YES! YES! YES!
If you want the public to view you as a professional, look the part! It is an individuals 'first impression' of you, even before than initial visit. Your photograph may bring consumers to your business...or make them think twice about contacting you!
A photo is very important. Take time to obtain one professionally. You'll find a quality photograph worth the expense, and it can be used repeatedly. Do not accept poor photographs from a professional photographer. Their job is provide a high quality finished product to enhance your business image.
If you believe you 'don't take a good photograph', it may be that you haven't located the right photographer. (Just look at super-models 'before' and 'after' photos, or poignant images done without any make-up, but just using light and colors that enhance).
The way a skilled photographer uses light and colors surrounding an individual is vital to the image obtained. If you have difficulty obtaining 'good photographs', please discuss this with your professional photographer and they will be able to provide 'hints' which will improve the photograph.
When you contact a photographer, ask about his/her policy regarding photo rights and copyrights. (Does the photographer receive royalties on your future use of the photo or allow you free use of your photo for brochures, cards, flyers, web-sites, etc.) Request copyright authorization in writing!
Request both color and black/white photo copies. Newspapers and some printed media prefer b/w photos, while your brochure, a promotional flyer or web-site may need a full color photo. |
